Achievements For NAVTI Foundation Cameroon
Vocational Training
Programs have been designed by the NAVTI Foundation for the underprivileged in the Bui division of Cameroon. The villages in the area have a population of about 480,000 inhabitants made up of poor peasants farmers with meagre incomes from barren soil that can't sustain their families. 70% of their children can't continue secondary education or vocational training because their parents can't provide basic needs and fees. Most primary school leavers follow their parent to farm, local workshops, while others engaged in early marriages and criminal activities. More so, local workshops hardly orientate poor primary school leavers to face the current challenges in the fast growing world. Many of their trainees end up in poor situations.
We do train in a modernized way, self-reliance programs to students such as tailoring, knitting, gardening and cookery/home economics. They also introduces commercial subjects taught in secondary school such as Small Business Management and Accounting, commerce, computer literacy, English language, French language, civics, moral instruction, sporting and related social activities. The centre intends to commence more subjects' such as shoe making and mending trainings.
Objective: By engaging in vocational training programs, we aim to:-
- Improve vocational training and empower youths to pursue small business development.
- Change the social status of poor and vulnerable primary school leavers.
- Encourage social development and self reliant programs to help alleviate rural poverty.
- Educate the Moslem community and traditionalists who strongly advocate early marriage for girls.
- Make youngsters active thereby distracting them from engaging in crime and sexual activity leading to HIV/AIDS.
- Develop a collective, participatory and practical grass root educational program.
