Activities for NAVTI Foundation Cameroon
HIV-AID's Education and Prevention
The NAVTI Foundation HIV-AID's program was designed because:
- The prevalence of HIV-AID's in Cameroon stands at more than 17% with the Bui Division having about 8.75% of this population.
- 1 in 10 children in the community is a HIV-AID's orphan.
- There is a high poverty level, which increases the prevalence of prostitution and sexually transmitted diseases (STI's).
It is our objective to promote the welfare of, and help the community see they can handle the basic health hazards concerning them. This program is jointly run in collaboration with our partners, the KISMET Friendship health care CIG.
- We have participated in activities for the HIV-AID's day and assisted in educational schemes organised by Ministry of Public Health in Cameroon and the Banso Baptist Hospital in Bui Division.
- We currently run a program for teaching other organisations basic truths about HIV/AIDS.
- In 2005/06 academic year. we organised a HIV-AID's school project where we help form HIV/AIDS clubs in secondary schools run by the students and trained them to carry out activities and sensitisation campaigns in their various schools. Then organised inter-school competitions to spread the doctrine against HIV-AID's amongst the youths in our community for the youths of today are the future of tomorrow. Hence their solid base now will protect our future generation.
We got materials from some international organisations dealing with HIV-AIDS education which we used to train the community. Banso Baptist Hospital has also helped us with readable materials to help us train our community.
